What Do PDO/PCL Threads Feel Like?

With a PDO/PCL threadlift, you can get a rejuvenated appearance through a minimally invasive treatment. That said, you might be wondering how the treatment feels. You’ve come to the right place to find out.

Not so very long ago, if you wanted to deal with sagging, lax skin, your only option was a facelift. Now, things have changed. If you don’t want a surgical procedure or the hassle or discomfort of the recovery period that comes afterward, we can offer you an alternative.

At our offices on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in New York City and in Madison, Connecticut, Dr. Norman J. Pastorek, and Janice Pastorek, BSN, RN, offer threadlifts with PDO (polydioxanone) and PCL (polycaprolactone) threads.

These PDO or PCL threads go under the skin of your face to lift and anchor it while simultaneously stimulating collagen production. That means that even as your body absorbs the threads, you get results that can last for years.

What’s more, this treatment is minimally invasive and comes with virtually downtime. While the results aren’t as dramatic as a facelift, you still get noticeable anti-aging effects with notably less hassle.

Still, though, you might be wondering about the process — and specifically whether or not it’s painful.

What the threadlift feels like

Here’s the good news: We’ve designed your threadlift to be as comfortable as possible. Dr. Pastorek and Janice Pastorek use a local anesthetic as they place PDO/PCL threads. In other words, you shouldn’t feel any pain as they administer your threadlift. At most, some patients have said they experienced a pulling or tugging sensation or mild discomfort.

Be honest about your pain tolerance before your treatment so the anesthetic levels can be personalized to your needs. If you’re feeling any excess discomfort during your treatment, let them know. We work with you to keep you as comfortable as possible whenever you’re in our care.

Sensation afterward

PDO/PCL threads don’t come with any downtime. You can head straight back to work if you want. Really, the only changes you’ll need to make are some adjustments to your moisturizer routine and adding an extra pillow or two so you can sleep with your head propped up.

You might have some bruising or swelling around the treated areas. It should dissipate quickly and shouldn’t prevent you from working, running errands, or whatever else you have on the docket. Most people report that any discomfort or soreness fades quickly after they get their PDO/PCL threads.

Ultimately, getting PDO/PCL threads comes with minimal discomfort and minimal downtime while delivering remarkable results. If you want to explore whether this option is right for your skin goals, call one of our offices or schedule your appointment online today.
