Co-owning a plastic surgery practice with your husband is both inspiring and challenging. Our overlapping passions for this profession have led to continual learning and growing together through the many years of running a practice together—and it’s always refreshing to read about your partner and share in the pride they possess for their personal journey in this field and in life.
My husband and partner, Dr. Norman Pastorek, recently sat down with the Student Doctor Network to answer 20 questions about his educational experience and career choice as a plastic surgeon. I thoroughly enjoyed reading his personal depiction of his journey as a medical student, young doctor, and, finally, a plastic surgeon with a successful practice—and even as his wife and business partner, I learned some things along the way.
In the interview, Dr. Pastorek stated, “You have to do something in life that really makes you happy … For me, that’s plastic surgery. I wake up and I can’t wait to see my patients. It has absolutely met my expectations in the best possible way.” Our goals individually and for our joint practice revolve around this ideal. We share this passion and love for enhancing the way our patients feel about themselves in all that we do.
Owning a practice and making a life together has been quite the journey. It was an honor to read such a thoughtful interview by such promising young adults; I have a great deal of faith in the future of medicine. Read the full interview here.
