About the Consultation

The consultation begins with a thorough discussion of the patient's medical history to be certain that elective aesthetic surgery will be appropriate and safe. Fortunately, most patients are good candidates for this type of surgery.

Dr. Pastorek uses his broad experience, his intuitive appreciation of facial aesthetics, and the confidence that comes from years of following his facial plastic cases to show the patient what is surgically optimal and ideal. In aesthetic surgery, beauty is in the balance between "too much and too little" where the perfect non-operated look lives.

Dr. Pastorek's plan for aesthetic change is almost always consistent with the patient's innermost thoughts. Once the doctor and the patient are comfortable with the plan, a brief non-graphic explanation of the operation and the best-suited anesthesia are presented.

The preoperative instructions detail what is vital to prevent bleeding, bruising, and swelling at the time of surgery. Dr. Pastorek feels patients do best when they know what to expect following surgery, day by day, with his specific techniques. Though all information is provided in written form, he feels that the patient should learn it from him personally at the time of the consultation.

Dr. Pastorek wants the consultation to be totally informative and complete. Enough time is provided to make the patient feel comfortable that they understand all aspects of the procedure in which they are interested. There is always time for questions. If the patient has forgotten something, the office welcomes calls. If the patient feels they need a second visit, it will be available.

The vast majority of Dr. Pastorek's patients come to him on the recommendation of friends and relatives who have had surgery. Others come by referral by their medical doctor, an operating room nurse, a plastic surgery consultant, and recently from Internet chat rooms. For those who have not seen his surgical results first hand, pre and postoperative photos can be shared at the time of the consultation. These are photos of patients who have offered to allow their images to be shown at consultation to assist others who are contemplating facial plastic surgery. Dr. Pastorek takes preoperative photos at the conclusion of the consultation process and postoperative photos at intervals following surgery.

Each patient should feel totally comfortable and confident with any decision they make about surgery. Our goal is to do everything possible to help the patient realize their dreams.
